Mike Arnold | Oakland Pastor

Mike Arnold is the North Way Oakland Pastor where his goal is to help the church become a thriving community of Christ-followers who will impact our city, country and the world.

Mike began his walk with Christ at the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy where Joe Coffey was the chaplain. For the past 17 years, Joe has remained a constant mentor, friend and the person Mike looks to for advice in every area of his life.

Mike earned a degree in Christian education from Taylor University and holds a Masters of Arts in Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Mike served eight years in Campus Focus, the college ministry of The Chapel, building and leading one of the largest College Ministries in Ohio. Over the past several years, Mike has been the Director of Young Adult Ministry at Central Christian Church in Henderson, Nevada.

Mike is an adventurer at heart. Mike’s adventure in his relationship with Christ has taken him around the world, giving him the opportunity to impact people’s for eternity. His passion for living extends into everyday life.

Dan Bryan | Oakland Worship Director

Dan Bryan is the Worship Director at North Way Oakland. He leads the teams that create our worship environments, including bands, vocals, audio, video, and lighting. He also serves as part of the leadership team for North Way Oakland.

Dan has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Grove City College. After a brief time working in the marketplace, Dan accepted the call to full-time ministry, joining the North Way team three years ago. Dan is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Bethel Seminary in Minnesota.

Although not native Pittsburghers, Dan and his wonderful wife Meghan have grown tremendously in their love for this city – and in their resolve to see more people come to know Jesus in a personal way.

Dan is passionate about the church, and about finding ways to engage people from all generations and backgrounds in the powerful story of the Gospel.

Amy Swaagman | Ministry Coordinator

Amy Swaagman is the Ministry Coordinator at North Way Oakland. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and Biblical Literature from Taylor University. She also has a Certificate of Leadership from Trinity Episcopal School of Ministry through her participation in the Pittsburgh Fellows Program.

Amy is originally from Wisconsin and like any good Wisconsinite – loves cheese!! She is not, however, an
official cheesehead since…dare we say it…she is not terribly interested in football. However, she is interested in Tae Kwon Do and currently holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Amy has enjoyed living in the “big city”. She loves hanging out with people and getting to know them, but more importantly getting to live life with them. She has a passion for Jesus Christ and lives to share that with others.

Lindsey Phillips | Media Director

Lindsey Phillips is the Media Director at North Way Oakland. She develops and trains our video, lighting and media teams that support our weekly services.

She currently attends the Art Institute of Pittsburgh pursuing a degree in Digital Media Production and will graduate in December of 2007. She has been using her training to produce some great video pieces for our weekend worship services.

Lindsey is truly a kid at heart and, every once and a while, you may see her eating her favorite dessert…ICE CREAM!!!! She also enjoys all kinds of music, particularly ska, and loves to turn the volume up and rock out in her car.

Lindsey loves to worship the Lord and is excited for the chance to be able to use the technical and filmmaking gifts that she has been given to bring glory to God.

Dr. Jay Passavant | Senior Pastor

Jay PassavantJay Passavant is the Senior Pastor of North Way Christian Community in Wexford, Pennsylvania.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington & Lee University and the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and was a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Jay was ordained in the United Presbyterian Church in 1974, served in youth ministry for seven years before starting North Way in 1981. North Way is a thriving congregation of nearly 3,500 members and has planted two daughter churches, as well as supporting the establishment of scores of congregations in China and India.

Throughout his pastoral ministry, Jay has focused on building strong families and has preached and talked frequently on biblical foundations for marriage, parenting, and a satisfying family life.

Scott Stevens | Pastor of Life Development

Scott StevensScott Stevens is the Pastor of Life Development at North Way. He leads the KiDZ and Student Ministries as well as being one of the directional leaders and preaching pastors of our Church.

Scott has a degree in Education from Edinboro University. He served as Youth Minister at Homestead U.P. Church for several years, then as Director of Student Ministries at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church before coming to North Way. Scott’s passion is to engage and develop next generational leadership for the local church.

Scott is a native Pittsburgher with a love for all things Pittsburgh. Each spring he is that guy who believes this is the year the Pirates will win the World Series! Scott lives in Pleasant Hills with his wife of 20 years, Tina, and his daughters Alyssa and Erin. Go Bucs!
